I have to share this. Immediately.
This product is absolutely amazing … its blown me away to be honest. I know, quite the statement for just a humble moisturiser.
But when you have a dry-skin type, finding a good fix is like finding the perfect pair of jeans. Its rare.
But I should warn you – this is no humble, innocent moisturiser. This magical potion is a little devil that could lure any dry skin type into a lifetime of committed use.
Okay, so let me just go ahead and address the elephant in the room for those of you already aware of its pricey credentials: this cream aint exactly cheap. And I know that some of you will ridicule its price tag, but guys, hear me out first …
I first discovered it when I ordered my favourite lipstick from the Charlotte Tilbury website a few weeks ago. You see, when making a purchase on her delightful site, you get to select a couple of free samples at the checkout. Hmm, sneaky-sneaky. (Beware of this generous checkout option as for me, it always results in new favourites) So I opted to try the product with the word ‘magic’ in it. Whatever it was, I wanted magic. Just give me the ‘magic’ Charlotte, I thought.
So along with my life changing lipsticks (Pillow talk & Saving Grace in Matt revolution; In case you’re interested) arrived my teeny tiny, sample with some fairly hefty claims.
‘Instant beauty sleep in a cream elixir’ it said.
A ‘powerful cocktail’ it said.
‘5 years in the making … and now the secret is out!’ the website informed me.
“Ok little sachet, show me what your made of” I whispered, as I tore off its corner.
Now, lately my skin has been dryer than a desert carcass, so I was keen to rip that baby open …
Straight away, I loved its thick, balm-like texture; its smell and its richness. And as I applied, sorry, as I allowed it to ‘glide’ over my skin … well … the difference in the appearance of my skin was strikingly obvious IMMEDIATELY.
Shit.
It. Is. Magic!
You know what? That little sample sachet ended up giving me 4 days of sheer complexion perfection – because you only need such a tiny amount, I had 4 whole days of problem-free skin. No more dry, flaky foundation issues by lunchtime. No more dullness. No more fine lines of make-up settlement. And also, my make-up stayed in place all day proving that its a great primer too.
Actually, on day two I went out for the evening, had a few drinks and fell asleep in full make-up (I know, I’m a lush) and the next morning, ALL of my make-up was still in place and looked fresh on – I actually woke up, good-to-go!
And you know what else? its collagen boosting claims seem to be correct – it did actually make me look younger as a result. I truly felt like it wiped 5 years off of me. No joke.
It had me. I was hooked. I was dazzled, and I was bloody unsure as to how I was going to justify a £100 price tag to my husband. This feels like a good time to use this hashtag: #firstworldproblems.
Sure, I could keep its price a secret, But that’s not my style … plus, he borrows my moisturiser from time to time so if he is to be dipping into a pot of product worth quite so much, then I was going to need him to understand its majesty; its importance; THAT IT COST ONE-HUNDRED DOUBLOONS! …
(If I was going to invest – which I already knew I was – then anyone who dare step near it would need to be made fully aware that under no uncertain terms, were any giant manly, nor un-educated sausage fingers going to be allowed to delve in just will-nilly. I would also need to brief the resident teen that this was not for combination skin types either. Yes, I would purchase a pot, and set up a ‘Cordon sanitaire’ around it.)
All was well, as to get around such potential price tag outcry, I let my husband try it too … I’m kind like that. Suffice to say that he also loved it and gave it the go-ahead (that I didn’t need).
And after the whole “HOW MUCH? … My first car cost less than that” man nonsense, he seemed to move on. Good good.
(“yeah yeah … whatever … your first car didn’t make me look 5 years younger though, did it?”)
Readers, It’s already too late for me. The damage was done and the beginning of the end was already underway. No7 Protect and perfect – you’ve been marvellous, but Charlottes Magic cream cant be ignored. The magic cant be undone. And I simply cant walk away from this kind of radiance. Thankfully I think that one pot will last a very long time. Probably at least 6 months. So perhaps £200 a year isn’t so bad. Not where radiance is concerned.
I’ve been using it daily for two weeks now. And contrary to some online concerns made by people, its richness hasn’t caused break-outs. I couldn’t be happier with it or my results.
You too could order a sample, but I wouldn’t recommend it. It will result in a purchase and a lifetime of use.
Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
You can check out Charlotte Tilbury’s website here. I’m a loyal user of her lipsticks and ‘bar of gold’ highlighter too. Its a very slippery slope. Just sayin’!
